The Pin occurrence consists of minor copper mineralization, 4 kilometres east-southeast of Perkins Peak, 30 kilometres southwest of the community of Tatla Lake. The area was staked to explore for the source of float mineralized with bornite, chalcopyrite, chalcocite and malachite.

The showing occurs in a unit of pyroclastic volcanics and minor sedimentary rocks of the Upper Triassic Mosley Formation, about 5 kilometres from the northeastern margin of the Jurassic to Tertiary Coast Plutonic Complex (Geological Survey of Canada Open File 1163, Map 1713A). Mostly the rocks comprise green or maroon andesitic tuff and breccia, with minor basalt and rhyolite-dacite. Some hornfelsing of the rocks is present although no intrusives have been mapped locally (Geological Survey of Canada Paper 68-33; Assessment Report 4729). Locally the rocks strike east-southeast and dip 30 degrees south. Most of the Coast Plutonic intrusions to the west have been assigned to the Late Cretaceous to Paleocene Bendor suite, although some to the southwest, across a thrust fault, are assigned to an unnamed Lower Cretaceous tonalite intrusive stock.

A prominent shear zone traverses the area within the volcanic rocks, striking 070 degrees and dipping moderately southeast (Assessment Report 4729). It is marked by intense sericitic alteration with pyrite, and minor silicification. The shear zone is cut by a fault striking 300 degrees. Chlorite and epidote alteration is widespread in the area; rusty-weathering oxidation is present locally. Fracturing is common on the south side of Chromium Creek.

Malachite occurs locally in altered and epidotized andesitic rocks, especially in the centre and east of the area (Assessment Report 4729). It occurs in the shear zone but is not restricted to it. Mineralized rocks are commonly cut by fractures filled with quartz and carbonate, or with chlorite and epidote; locally the adjacent andesite contains disseminated chalcopyrite.

High copper values have been obtained from mineralized chip samples, although most rocks in the area are not strongly anomalous in copper or zinc (Assessment Report 4729).

WORK HISTORY

In July 1973 the area in the vicinity of the Pin Showing (MINFILE 092N 053) was staked for City Service Minerals Corporation to explore for the source of float mineralized with bornite, chalcopyrite, chalcocite and malachite. The rock sample was obtained from a regional helicopter-based reconnaissance prospecting program of a large gossan in the Chromium Creek valley. Subsequent to the claim staking, geochemical, magnetic, geological and I.P. surveys were undertaken to evaluate the ground. A total of 550 silt, soil, talus and outcrop rock chip samples from were collected (Assessment Report 4729). Geophysics included 19 kilometre ground magnetometer survey and 5 kilometres of Induce Polarization (IP) survey (Assessment Report 5522). City Service Minerals mapped malachite and sometimes chalcopyrite at number of localities on the Pin group of claims in the south and east. Soil samples returned values up to 164 parts per million copper and 500 parts per million arsenic and a number of I.P. anomalies, sometimes coinciding with geochemical anomalies.

In 2016, geochemical surface sampling, prospecting and very rudimentary geological mapping/observations was conducted on behalf of 1026452 B.C. LTD. This work was completed on the Perk claim (tenure 1038289); the Pin 2 showing was later plotted at the southeast corner of the claim. A total of 29 rock, 14 silt and 12 soil samples were collected on the Perk 2 claim; the Pin occurrence is located near the Perk 2 western boundary about 600 metres from its southeast corner. No samples were collected in the Pin occurrence area.

In 2019, six rock samples (517772-517777) were collected in the Pin 1 area. These were typically described as tuffs with pyrite. One sample had minor quartz veins, and another was reported to have minor chalcopyrite (Assessment Report 38794). None of the samples yielded significant assays.
